Just fifteen minutes from your hotel lies the palace of King Minos, the heart of Europe's first great civilisation. We take you to Knossos early, before the crowds, and give you time to walk its courtyards, frescoes and royal stairways at your own pace. Afterwards we return to the city for the Morosini Fountain, the Venetian walls and a slow stroll along the old harbour, with a coffee stop wherever you like.

A little history
Knossos was the heart of the Minoan civilisation, Europe's first great culture. The first palace rose around 1900 BC and was rebuilt after an earthquake into the vast complex you see today. Legend places King Minos, the Labyrinth and the Minotaur here, and the site was brought back to light by Sir Arthur Evans from 1900 onwards.
